Living in Reality

A very wise man once said, “Reality is that which, after I stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.” The wise man was Philip K. Dick, another man intimately acquainted with living from hand to mouth. Well the reality is that my car needs two new front axles, $400 plus tax. That is so just not in the budget right now. It would be nice to have the luxury of not needing a car to get to work but that is also not my reality. It’s looking like I’m going to have to sell my gold ring. It was my dad’s. There’s nothing else that valuable or liquid in my apartment.

This may suck but at least I’m not reduced to having to shop in the pet food aisle. If things turn around at work I’ll probably get my hours brought back up to full time. I may have to do this today but this can’t go on like this. I need something else. Those new axles will just have to be an investment towards another job. sell my gold now and buy some time, so long as nothing else goes wrong.

I went for a walk last night right around dusk to pick up a few things at the supermarket. It was cold but it felt good. And the first thing I noticed when I got there was how few cars there were in the parking lot. This was a Sunday night. The sports pub on the far end is usually packed during football season. It wasn’t. I asked the girl in the checkout line how business was and she shrugged and mentioned that she’d been cut back to 3 shifts per week.

We’ve been working on hope for so long that things would just magically turn around, that a new government would create more opportunity for us. But it’s slowly dawning on even the most optimistic people that this isn’t getting any better and will probably get worse. Has anything changed?

I saw a tweet from a guy last night that said maybe the target in the war on terror was us. Maybe the point of all of this was to create exactly this reality, the kinds of nightmares Phil Dick used to warn us about; the permanent unemployment, the despair, the ever-rising costs of the basics, the grinding away of our dignity while the architects of this reality show live lives even the kings of old could only dream of.

I’m not ready to give in, but I can see it coming. Today, I’m selling my gold jewelry for cash to fix my car. Tomorrow? Maybe I can deliver pizzas, if anyone can still afford to buy one. After that? I have no idea

Gift her diamond engagement ring with different setting style

Stating engagement is one of the most highly valued occasions of one’s life would be stating the obvious. This is the occasion that one waits for the entire life to be the centre of attraction on the eve. Hence, we try to make up everything as stunning as possible.

The engagement ring is the catch of the event and hence, it also needs to be a stunning piece. The ring needs to be holding a stone that could make the couple look scintillating. Sapphires, ruby, emeralds, etc. are among the colourful stones that are becoming progressively trendier. However, the effects of diamonds have been conventional and are still in trend for their higher values.

The ring, thus, diamond engagement ring would be an optimal gift for the occasion. However, be the stone of any type, the feature apart from it that makes a ring look better is the settings and style of the engagement ring. The numerous of settings are available for the diamond engagement rings. The settings define a ring in various beautiful aspects than the regular make. There are number of settings available that offer a ring variety of looks and hence, can vary for the style.

Prong settings: This is among the traditional sorts of settings available for the diamond engagement rings. This is the typical sort of settings used for solitaire diamond engagement ring. Prongs are the metal claws that clutch the stone in place from outside. These are suitable for marquise, princess and pear cut diamonds.

Bezel Settings: This setting is also considered as one of the best settings for the engagement rings. However, this sort of settings requires more work than the prong settings as the diamond has to be fitted in the metal perfectly. The plus point of such setting is that it provides the stone a better protection than the prong settings as it holds it firmly.

The Channel settings: This sort of settings involves individual settings of the diamonds. This offers the rings with much more of the protection and hence, is mostly used in the eternity rings.

Hence, buying a diamond engagement ring is not merely confined into the major aspects such as the ring band style and the quality of diamonds. Rather giving attention to the settings may add to the beauty of the engagement ring.

Finding the best settings for the diamond engagement ring could be helped out optimally through the online services.

3 Places to Find Beads Jewelry Supplies Are Easy to Find

You’ve decided you want to invest some time and energy in making jewelry from beads. Jewelry supplies for this hobby are easy to find all over the place. The real questions are how much do you want to spend, what kinds of beads will you use, and are you willing to wait a couple of days to get them.

Local Bead Shops

No question about it, this is your best option if you are a hands on person. The selection is pretty good, although not comprehensive, and you can finger the beads, see how they feel and put one next to another and decide if you like a particular combination.

The down side is that you are going to pay a lot more for beads here than anywhere else you can find them. The reason is that the shop owner is paying rent, utilities, employees, shipping, and goodness knows what else and they have to make a profit. That’s not your fault, per se, but you will be helping them pay the bills. If you are lucky, the employees will be knowledgeable and will help you make good choices. If not, well at least you got to see things up close. Hobby and Craft Shops

The selection is smaller, as these shops are usually limited to carrying one or two lines of beads. If you don’t like the selection or are looking for something in particular, you might be out of luck. Unless you happen to find an employee who knows something about beads and beading, you are on your own.

The up side though is that you will usually pay less for beads here than at a bead shop. Of course, the quality is likely to be lower since mass produced beads tend to be, well, cheap. But, if you want to let your kids play with kits or you are just looking for something simple to make, this is a good option.

The Wild Web World of Beads

There is little doubt that your best prices and selections are going to be found online. Not only will there be thousands upon thousands of beads to choose from, but the prices are very reasonable. This means that you can get specialty beads affordably. Even handcrafted, one-of-a-kind beads can be found or ordered online, and if you are a serious beader, this is the source for you.

The down side is that the Web can be a little impersonal. If you don’t know what you want, you can spend hours looking for the right item. That is why it pays to find a good bead supplier and stick with them, developing a relationship over time; that way you will know when the sales are coming and how to get that special bead you want for a particular project.

Eventually, every serious artisan comes online for beads. jewelry supplies are expensive enough without paying a premium at a local store.
